After three days of practice, y3k and her crew are ready for the first race of the Rolex Maxi yacht Cup tomorrow. Our newest sail is a number 3, 3Di jib from North Sails. After a few ‘adjustments’ it seems quite fast in the low wind range(16-18kts) that we have been able to test it and is for sure very stable. Whilst there is currently no weight saving, it should hold its shape in a very large wind range and the only problem that we have had so far, is that when the sail was new, it was so stiff that it pulled the bolt rope out of the prefeeder during the hoist. Now it seems ok.
Forecast for tomorrow is light. Good luck to all our competitors. Be safe, Phil
Summer is here and the worlds super and mega yachts are heading for Sardinia where a mooring buoy in Cala del Volpe costs €480 per night for a 22m! We anchored off porto Rotundo with an apprentice crew, thanks to Ned and Anna. If you are cruising Maddelena, cruising permits are 40% cheaper if brought online.laesardphp
